May 1, 2019 — Fluid Components International (FCI) recently introduced ST series flow meters with a retractable packing gland option.

The thermal diffusion ST50, ST80 and ST100 series of air/gas flow meters all adopt a plug-in design and are now equipped with FCI's optional packing gland kit. They need a single tap on the production line, and they can take back their flow sensing elements from the production line.

When maintaining FCI's ST series plug-in instruments, the sensor assembly is retracted from the pipeline through the ball valve/packing gland. When retracted, the ball valve is closed. 

FCI retractable packaging gland kits for ST series flow meters are available in low or medium pressure configurations. The low pressure kit is suitable for pipelines with pressures up to 50 psig [3,5 bar (g)]. The medium pressure configuration is designed for pipelines with pressures up to 500 psig [34 bar (g)]. They can choose graphite or PTFE packing material and a threaded or flanged process connection. When the process medium is ozone, chlorine or bromine, Teflon filler material is required.
